Galen Rowell
Galen and Barbara Rowell Started a business called Mountain Light Photography in 1983. From a very young age, around the age of 10, Galen began hiking mid-western mountains with his father, and by 18 he was rope climbing mountains in Yosemite and Yellowstone and continued climbing mountains and traveling for more than 52 years. Much like Ansel Adams, he took pictures of how he felt when he was seeing the things he was seeing. His first official publicized pictures were in National Geographic from his home business in 1973. He won the Ansel Adams Award for Conservation Photography in 1982. Galen Rowell, Barbara Rowell, and 2 friends died in a small plan crash coming back from an expedition in Alaska. In 1986 he published Mountain Light: In Search of Dynamic Landscape which became a bestseller.
