Stephan Shore
Stephan Shore is a renowned photographer who takes photos of virtually everything. He was born in the Big Apple (New York City) and began his career using just a 35 mm camera taking photos of everything that struck his interests. He went to a fine arts college and later became a professor at Bard College. I choose his photo "Albuquerque, New Mexico, June 1972" (Left) to replicate the best i could. The photo on the right is called "The Messy Table" (taken by me) and is my replica of Stephan shores photo. I choose this photo because i like the simplicity of the composition along with the dynamic placement of the objects in the photo. I work as a bus boy and see dirty tables all during work and never assumed that it would be an interesting subject matter to photography until I saw Stephen Shore's work. Withing Stephen's photo, the light is coming from behind the photographer and there are a range of shades going from black all the way to white. The top corners of the photo are almost not even visible because the light fades away but i like the ominous feeling that you get because the photo is slightly too dark in some places while other places are fully lit. The camera angle plays a huge part in the making of Stephen Shore's photo. He has the camera oriented up high and is holding the camera at a slight horizontal angle. My photo does not do a good job representing the angle because I did not notice that there was an angle until after i took the photo. Also my lighting is completely off because within the restaurant that I was in there was no way of adjusting the lights. The way the plates are set up in both photos cause your eyes to evaluate every detail that is in the photo.
